It started on Thursday, when Nolin got to meet his Grandma Teresa for the first time. The connection was instant, although she exclaimed that she thought he was a baby doll at first because he was so tiny and all she could see was a full head of hair. Jenn has been so excited to be able to share this experience with her mom, and I think Teresa has been seduced by Nolin’s charm. He even has her volunteering to feed him at 3:00 in the morning. He’s still working on getting her to volunteer to change his diapers…baby steps.
We celebrated Nolin’s 1st week with his 1st BBQ party. It worked pretty much as I expected, I grilled all of the food and Nolin entertained the ladies. I found there is a big difference between being an adult and a 1 week old. At 1 week anything goes and everything you do is cute…as an adult, not so much. Nolin enjoy it while you can because in a few years the ladies really wont find it as cute when you fart on them and smile.
It was so great to see everyone and I definitely got to play the role of the proud papa as I introduced Nolin to our friends. I also came to the quick realization at just how much everything is going to change. Nolin and I’s days and nights will be filled with early morning feedings, dirty diapers, spit up and shopping trips (these are a little less painful for Nolin because he can sleep through them) and not near as many trips downtown. While I could do without quite as many dirty diapers, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Next week is going to be another action filled week for Nolin. On Wednesday Jenn, Axelle and Teresa will be heading to Jenn’s school to introduce Nolin to all of the students and faculty who will be hosting a baby shower for him. Then next weekend, my parents and brother will be heading here to meet the man of the hour and I can’t wait! To be honest, I don’t think they can either. Big Bus sent Nolin an official Yankees Jersey onesie, hat and pacifiers…put me in coach I’m ready to play.
As we’ve started to introduce Nolin to this exciting world, we’ve begun to wonder what he is going to look like, sound like and act like as he gets older. I can’t see him as anything other than my little bubba junk who chills in my arms. I know that the days to come will hold so many great surprises because for Nolin, The Future’s So Bright…He’s Gotta Wear Shades!

I have just read your blog (twice) and cried each time!
Paddy, thanks so much for taking the time to share with all of your “family” all the news.
Nolin is perfect and I can’t wait to meet him. We’re in Florida until July 7 and then heading back home to Virginia Beach. When will you all be in Virginia Beach?
Can’t wait to meet the new member of “our family.”
Love to all of you,
Dorothy
Thanks Dorothy! We are so excited to have Nolin in our lives. We couldn’t ask for a better child and truly feel blessed. We are heading up to Virginia Beach at the end of June, but I think we will be leaving to head up to PA on the 6th, so we may just miss you 😦
Maybe we can try and meet up with you all before you leave Florida. Hope everything is going well and we can’t wait for you to meet Nolin!
Ummmmm…are those the itsy bitsy sunglasses that I saw at the BBQ?! They looked SOOO little on the table and then in the picture, they look so big on his adorable little face!
I’m so glad we got to meet him on Saturday!! He is such a perfect little baby!!
PS- I also love this Blog!
