It is hard to believe it has already been six months since we brought Grace home from the hospital.
Due to scheduling we couldn’t get Grace in for her six month appointment until the 9th of April, but this time I had a chance to take her. It was funny because Nolin at this age was not a fan of the doctor’s office. To be fair it may have been because of his traumatic first experience, but Grace was calm cool and collected like always. That is until the shots came…
The first nurse that came in measured her, checked her eyes and all the typical stuff. Then they sent in the doctor to review her charts with me and ask some follow-up questions.
Although we knew it, it is always nice to hear that everything is going great. At this point, Grace is:
- 26.25 inches tall (50th percentile)
- 18 lbs. 10 oz. (90th percentile)
- 17 inches head circumference (50-75 percentile)
The doctor was very pleased and it appears that Grace is moving perfectly along the growth charts.
After the doctor left, they sent in a very nice older nurse bearing gifts. She asked me to hold Grace’s arms and talk to her, while she held her legs and gave her two vaccinations.
Before she received the shots, Grace immediately started saying Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma. All I could say is sorry girl, but this wont hurt a bit. As a parent, I am hoping that you are granted little white lie status when it is for the betterment of the situation…Grace didn’t seem to think so.
It ended in sad crocodile tears.
We finally made our way home and it didn’t take long for Grace to get back to her normal carefree self. Even with the tears (which are always expected) it was a good appointment.
Besides that Grace’s two teeth are becoming more prominent and she is crawling everywhere. She also knows the surefire way to annoy her older brother…grab his toys and put them in her mouth.
As soon as Nolin turns his back…she is off and working to get his stuff (as he loves to point out).
Sibling rivalry…begin.
